Greg Cummings was appointed Senior Vice President, Manufacturing, for Philip Morris USA in June 2003. His organizational role is to manufacture superior branded cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products that meet our quality, safety and demand specifications at the best possible cost.
Greg began as an industrial engineer for Philip Morris USA in Richmond, Va., in 1980. Subsequently, he moved to Cabarrus County, N.C., in 1982 where he served in a variety of positions including Plant Superintendent and Director of Maintenance & Engineering. In August 1994, he returned to Richmond, as Plant Manager, Stockton Street Operations and Assistant to the Senior Vice President of Operations.
Greg returned to North Carolina in August 1996 as General Manager of the Cabarrus Manufacturing Center. In April 2000, Greg moved back to Richmond as Vice President of Process Commercialization & Engineering. In 2002, he was named Senior Vice President of Quality & Compliance, where his role was to assure Philip Morris USA compliance with legal, regulatory and business requirements. Before assuming his current role, Greg was Senior Vice President of Manufacturing & Quality in 2003.
Greg is currently on the boards of directors of the Richmond Forum, the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the North Carolina Community Development Initiative and Claflin University.
A native of Holly Hill, S.C., Greg received a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from the College of Charleston in South Carolina.
